SEMARF FRAMESPRODUCT DESIGN
In late winter of '17, an artist was working on her first one-person gallery show and approached us about designing and fabricating frames for that work. At its essence, the design problem was to efficiently address the parameters of shipping, storage, assembly, mounting, disassembly, reuse, recycling . . . all while - of course - making the frames beautiful. Our solution ended up as an interlocking kit of steel parts to be put together after they get to the artist. Made of raw steel and fastened with common blind rivets, the frames reach for aesthetic honesty and the satisfaction that comes with the physical act of making.
