DAY BATHCLOSET + UTILITY
The long exterior wall of this linear bathroom faces northeast and lets in a louvered slot of Texas sunlight, making a great opportunity for bright, happy mornings.
So as to reduce clutter and maximize efficiency, all of the functions and articles of bathing, dressing, and washing are confined to this one space. Easily accessible behind a long series of bright white curtains is a generous closet for two and a family-size washer and dryer.
To avoid spending premium countertop surface on a conventional wash basin, a heavy-gauge stainless steel countertop is sloped to an integral drain along the wall. Matching that same system is the shower floor, where a stainless steel pan is recessed into the floor plane and covered with rubber flooring for better ergonomics and further waterproofing.
So as to reduce the material palette, the same rubber flooring is used to waterproof the cabinet boxes and drawer fronts.
